Building Homes, Building Legacies
For nearly 40 years, Boynton Construction has been crafting exceptional homes and thriving communities. What started as one man's passion for building has grown into a multi-generational family business dedicated to quality, innovation, and personalized service. Discover our journey—from humble beginnings to shaping the future of homebuilding in Connecticut.
Our Story
Boynton Construction was founded in 1985 by Ken Boynton, a first-generation home builder. After years of balancing part-time construction work with a full-time job in the family oil business, Ken took a leap of faith and incorporated Boynton Construction Inc. With a financial partner on board, he dedicated himself to developing land and building homes.
In the first year, while developing a parcel of land into residential lots, Ken built six new homes. This success led to the development of Hampshire Court Condominiums, a 25-townhome community in Vernon, CT. The booming market and strong demand confirmed that following his passion for home building was the right choice. Over the years, Boynton Construction expanded, developing multiple subdivisions ranging from 10 to over 40 lots, along with several commercial projects.
A Family Business
Ken’s son, Jon, pursued a degree in construction management and worked in large-scale commercial construction before joining the family business. His experience brought fresh insights, and together, they continued to develop homes and communities. Meanwhile, Ken’s daughters, Carolyn and Kristyn, contributed to the company in home design, sales, and marketing. Kristyn later earned her real estate broker’s license, leading to the formation of Boynton Realty LLC alongside Boynton Construction Inc., offering full-service housing solutions.
Today, Boynton Construction continues to thrive as a family-run business, with active communities and future developments in the pipeline.
Industry Leadership
Ken has been actively involved in the home building industry, serving on the Board of Directors for the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Central CT. He has held leadership positions at both the state and national levels, advocating for affordable housing and effective building regulations. In 2019, he was elected National Area Chairman (NAC) for the New England region with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB).
Most recently, Ken was appointed chairman of a legislative committee working to develop a model quality control plan for quarries and study workforce needs in Connecticut’s concrete foundation industry.
Looking Ahead
With a strong foundation and the next generation leading the way, Boynton Construction remains committed to building quality homes and thriving communities for years to come.
